Managing Director, Salt Creek Capital Management
Board Member
Daniel J. Phelps is the Managing Director of Salt Creek Capital Management, a middle market private equity firm in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Phelps has extensive experience investing in and advising companies from start-up through IPO. Most recently, Mr. Phelps was a General Partner at Opus Capital, a $280M Menlo Park, CA based fund formed in 2006 where he led growth equity and buyout efforts focusing on the middle market. Previously, Mr. Phelps was a General Partner and founding member of Duchossois Technology Partners (DTEC), a Chicago based venture capital firm, where he led software and networking investments. Some of the investments he led at DTEC include Infoblox, Intellon (Nasdaq: ITLN, later acquired by ATHR), Mobilitec (acquired by Lucent), NetNearU, NextHop (acquired by U4EA), Clarity (acquired by Cambridge Silicon Radio) and Rubicon Genomics. Before joining DTEC, Mr. Phelps spent five years at the Pritzker Financial Office in Chicago, where his responsibilities focused on principal investments in a variety of industries. He began his career in the financial services group at Ernst & Young. Mr. Phelps graduated with Honors from The Ohio State University with a BSBA and received his MBA from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
