NCR and NetNearU Bridge Digital Divide
With Turnkey Public Internet Alliance

Atlanta -- Internet access provider NetNearU today announced plans to order 1,500 NCR Web Kiosks, initiating a partnership that will make available Internet and e-mail access potentially anywhere outside the home. Installation will begin in May, 2000.

NCR and NetNearU, in conjunction with PBG, the worlds largest payphone enclosure manufacturer, will offer a complete turnkey solution, including hardware, software, enclosure, installation and deployment. The partnership will also provide for one of the most comprehensive maintenance arrangements, covering cash collection, remote management, cosmetic maintenance and equipment repair.

Located in airports, restaurants, hotels, convention centers, shopping malls, office buildings and other public-access areas, the Web kiosks will offer consumers access to the 'Net while providing a virtually immediate return on investment for the kiosk owner. Much like a payphone, the kiosk accepts cash for time spent using it. Another revenue stream comes from advertising potential.

"Building a strategic partnership with NNU and PBG will create a win-win situation," said Jim Nadler, Vice President of Channel Marketing at NCR. "People want access to information quickly and conveniently, and that consumer need can now be met at a profit."
