NetNearU Turnkey Hotspot System Powers
Newark Liberty International Airport

Carrier-grade solution available to over 30 million travelers per year

(June 24, 2003) College Station, Texas - NetNearU (NNU) announced today the deployment of its turnkey TRACKOS™ Wi-Fi hotspot system at Newark Liberty International Airport by a large multi-national telecom carrier. The service, which is available immediately, enables travelers at Newark’s world-renowned international hub to have high-speed Internet access throughout the terminal C passenger and gate areas. Newark terminals A and B are scheduled to have Wi-Fi installed shortly.

"The NetNearU wireless solution is built around our TRACKOS operational support system (OSS), which has been in continuous operation for over 5 years, managing over 1,400 wired and wireless Internet access devices worldwide,” said Larry James, chairman and CEO of NetNearU. “In deploying this system at the Newark airport, existing Internet terminal locations were leveraged by simply adding Wi-Fi at those locations. This greatly reduced the time-to-market, complexity, and cost of deploying a wireless network. The system did not require any additional bandwidth, and only a nominal amount of time was needed to install Wi-Fi throughout the passenger and gate areas.”

NetNearU’s Wi-Fi system has also been deployed at Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Miami International Airport, and is targeted to be deployed in other high-traffic locations in various vertical markets in the coming months. The network operators deploying this system have found it to be a truly carrier-grade solution. This robustness, coupled with its low cost of entry, makes TRACKOS the perfect solution for other hotspot vertical markets including cafes, hotels, and marinas.

To date, over 100 network operators have signed the NNU software license agreement and will deploy the NetNearU Wi-Fi hotspot system. Today, network operators can utilize the company’s online sign-up process at https://wireless.nnu.com/signup/ to quickly and easily gain entry to the hotspot market. Throughout 2003, some NetNearU network operators have seen same location sales increase by over 25% per month. NetNearU has experienced month-to-month growth in total hotspot revenues, so far in 2003, of up to 80%. Large scale installations in highly trafficked areas such as Newark, the growing acceptance of Wi-Fi technology by users, and the proliferation of wireless-enabled devices are key drivers of this growth.

NetNearU's roster of blue chip clients includes: TCG Public Communications Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T Corporation; Verizon Communications Inc.; Federated Systems Group Inc., a subsidiary of Federated Department Stores, Inc.; Sprint Pay Phone Services Corporation; and British Petroleum Oil UK Limited.
